One of the great discoveries of late 19th century painters like Manet and Degas was that the lives of cities was a worthy subject for painters. Now into his eighth decade of life, the Spanish legend Antonio López García has continued the tradition with masterful results. Although I have lived in many cities, my favorites are San Francisco, from having lived there for ten years, and Valencia, Spain for reasons I’m unable to explain. All cities can open the doors of Imagination, but for me the doors of those two have opened my eyes the widest.
