Sketches

There are many delights in drawing, but for me, a pencil and a sketchbook provide some of the greatest pleasures of trying to depict the world I live in. I always carry a small (5 ½ x 8 ½ in.) sketchbook and often a larger one (8 ½ x 12 in.) as well. Out of curiosity, I just counted the old sketchbooks that have accumulated in my studio: there are 32 small-sized and 20 large-sized. For me, not to draw is not to learn, which is the same as not to live.
